Storytelling

Stories have always been the thread that have held my stitches in place all these years. As storyteller Mr Fox, I tell tales old and new, traditional and original, of nature and folklore, the woods and the oceans, of mermaids and unicorns, playing all kinds of bizarre ethnic and traditional instruments, from African Gourd Banjo to Uzbek Dutar, Kazakh Rebab to English Concertina. I tell tales wherever there are ears to listen and hearts to tickle, with tales of hares and hounds, ghosts and witches, lakes and trees, fairies and sea creatures, real and fantastical, though I am increasingly unable to tell the difference....

Current stories include...

I also work regularly with the silky storyteller Milly Jackdaw, adding musical accompaniment to her terrific tellings of tales of the trees and stories of the seas. You can find Milly’s website here, which also features many of my illustrations....

We also have a Magic Lantern Show, The Mermaid and the Selkie, which features Milly’s marvellous storytelling, writing and piano, with over 300 of my illustrations projected onto a screen or wall, and specially produced for the Show, which we are touring round various venues. There are more details on the Magical Illuminarium pages, and on Milly’s website....

We also have a new show, FoxTails, a few foxes from which are fossicking around this very website.
